HIDUP bukan sekadar membaca forwarded emel. Dan, ia lebih besar dari berfesbuk.

Shanghai Baby (by Wei Hui): Versi Taf Teh
25: Cinta atau Kemahuan?

‘Janji.

Liberalism in writing: The art of masculine roses and feminine thorns

Re-evaluating Woolf’s Androgynous Mind (by Elizabeth Wright)

“…A way of thinking that would enable women and by implication men to write as themselves, still in a sexed body, but without the attendant prejudices and discriminations that are connected to the body by society. To write without consciousness of sex is to see the piece of work for itself not as its author… Woolf is arguing here that sex should enter the mind and, through the medium of its androgynous thinking patterns, re-emerge incandescent and unconscious of itself on the other side.”

“Woolf leaves the reader in no doubt that the androgynous mind is the creative ideal, but what marks a text as the production of an androgynous mind? How do women avoid writing as women constructed by patriarchy, or avoid writing like men in the service of patriarchy? How do men prevent themselves from writing angrily about women and pompously or egotistically about themselves? In A Room of One’s Own Woolf demonstrates the turgidity of the male sentence.”

“The strength of language and form as a means of realising Woolf’s androgynous vision lies in the fact that “masculine and feminine can be exchanged, or travestied, because words can be.”

Vintage Woolf: Selected Letters

“I mean life has to be sloughed: has to be faced: to be rejected; then accepted on new terms with rapture.” ~Virginia Woolf

Letters to C. B.

#410
Why do you torment me with half uttered and ambiguous sentences? My presence is ‘vivid and strange and bewildering’… I shrank to my narrowest limits, and you found me more than usually complex, and contained. Chivalrous as you are, however, you took infinite pains with me, and I am very grateful.

#471
I expect your praise is immensely exaggerated: you (I guess) have so much more of the dramatic instinct than I have that you see it into my scenes. But I take praise very gratefully; long for some assurance that all my words aren’t varpour. They accumulate behind one in such masses- dreadful, if they are nothing but muddy water… I have a blind faith in my power of making sentences presentable, so that I leave bald patches gaily, to furbish up next winter… I want to bring out a stir of live men and women, against a background. I think I am quite right to attempt it, but it is immensely difficult TO DO… you have no notion how pale and transparent it reads to me sometimes – though I write with heat enough.

Letters to H. W.

#2063
Aren’t you singularly vain, for a man of your reputation? I should have thought, selling ten million copies in a month, you would have long ago disregarded Virginia – perhaps you have – Perhaps it is only your sublime urbanity, and the quality which I most adore and that is man-of-the-worldliness, that lets her think that you care what she says.

#2687
In fact I sometimes think only autobiography is literature – novels are what we peel off, and come at last to the core, which is only you or me. And I think this little book (The Apple Tree) – why so small? – peels off all the things I don’t like in fiction and leaves the thing I do like – you.

Parking Space

They refuse to rest and keep looking for parking space. They found one, but refused to settle with their first choice and started to search for another parking space. ‘They’ are all inputs that we devour through out the day, combines with the accumulated inputs from the very lengthy knowledge searching process. I doubt they will ever comply to my hiatus command because at night, when you try to rest them, they are too busy cataloging themselves or pairing with other partners. They work swiftly, trying to fit into the correct parking space which generates a very high energy vibration in your brain wave.

I mentioned to Dr. Roy regarding this 'parking space' analogy which is quite burdening and has disturbed my life for the past 3 or 4 months.

Dr Roy: “Etheric June. Etheric!!!”

Ok... I need Proforol!!!

Meredith Dittmar & Megan Whitmarsh

(pencil, marker, gouache & ink on paper)

Q: Let's start with you describing your process of creating a new piece.
A: My process is always changing. Typically I collect images, diagrams, math and words and surround myself with them before I begin a set of pieces - though once I start working I only refer to them rarely. I throw it all into the BRAIN BLENDER and see what comes out.

Q: What are you really excited about right now?
A: The hadron collider. Networks. Fractals. Mycology. Integral theory. Adyashanti. Stop motion. Alpine backcountry. My bike.

TWO

Breakfast at Tiffany

All I need is one large mug of caffeine (preferably an instant 3-in-1) and two to three hours of reading at my favorite corner in my tiny bedroom, accompanied by a second-hand metal desk and books, with a lot of books. This would be my mandatory breakfast routine. Nothing is astonishing as to be self-absorbed with inspiring words in the morning and momentarily vacate myself from actual responsibilities of the days especially working.

It feels so good to be capsulated by wordssssssssss.

Never Ask for Free Trial

Recently, an ungrateful question attacked my mind. “How would it be/feel if I lost one of my senses or any body part that would make be incapable of reading?”

Several days after this ridiculous thought lingered my life, God gave me eye inflammation as a free test. My reddish eyes are painful with a constant aching and I’m now reading (and writing) in mild difficulty, still I can read and write.

I will pray to God, will beg Him to bestow a perpetual ability to read and write. Dear God The Mighty Creator, have mercy on me and please, please, please forgive me...

One for My Baby (Tony Parson)

Eat your cold porridge!

A Chinese expression which means working at something for so long that when you get home there is nothing left to eat but cold porridge. People sometimes give up comfort and pleasure for a greater good. They defer gratification for some distant goals/dreams. Eat your cold porridge now, so that you will have something better tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, or the day after that. Dreams require self-sacrification!

Kontemplasi #1

Ia memerlukan kekuatan!

Faces of Exploration (by Joanna Vestey)

"To me exploration isn't about conquering natural obstacles, planting flags... It's not about where no one's gone before in order to LEAVE YOUR MARK, but about the opposite of that: about making yourself vulnerable, opening yourself up to whatever's there and LETTING THE PLACE LEAVE ITS MARK ON YOU."

Bernedict Allen, an explorer.

Think Like Da Vinci (II)

4/7: Sfumato (to willingly accept ambiguity, paradox and uncertainty)

To be a great human being, one should cultivate stumato in his/her daily life. As misery, calamity, chaos, confusion, malicious accusation are parts of our daily routine, one needs to contemplate the opposition of these negative or destructive events. Yes, you can only appreaciate, FEEL and understand the truth meaning of happiness when you contemplate (which originates from curiosity) and spiritually connected to the Higher Source.

Artistic people usually need a spark of conflict in their life because they understand the importance of conflict in inspiring creativity. To silently suffer and isolate themselves from the commonality is a wonderful journey of sfumato. (Taf Teh)

Think Like Da Vinci by Michael Gelb

1/7: Curiosita (Curiosity)

Curiosity is an initial stage of wonderment. The wondering creates void in our brain circuit and maybe, in our pumping heart. Thus, an act to fulfill the void marked by curiosity will lead to a rewarding learning process. A constant desire to perfecting the body of knowledge may result to a new or phenomenal discovery. However, at the end of the day, it is not the answer (whether right or wrong) that matter. It is the journey itself, the process of finding a sample of right answer that elevate us to be a superior being. Nevertheless, this process need to be carefully accompanied by reliable references and should be followed by self-contemplation. (Taf Teh)

Does complete/right answer exist?

Hidden Creative Force

Temple of Creative Manipulation
It is a morning capsule that energizes my day
It is an asylum factory that manufactures immeasurable ideas
It is a temple of creative manipulation that resonates my soul
It is an imaginative highway blessed with love
It is a constructive force for a mind stimulant

Puncak Alam: 8 Nov 2009
Note: I made four journeys to Puncak Alam between 1 Nov - 10 Nov (two of them were unnecessary) and fall in love with this unknown route. However, under an intense pressure during the third visit, I ruthlessly sabotaged my visit and started scribbling note, a minor portion was published here. I did enjoy the journey of this unknown route; it was an eye and mind opening experience.

Creative Process

The key to being a wonderful writer is not to write. Leave room for God to walk in the room. You just get out of the way. ~Michael Jackson

It is not necessary that you leave the house. Remain at your table and listen. Do not even listen, only wait. Do not even wait, be wholly still and alone. The world will present itself to you for its unmasking, it can do no other, in ecstasy it will writhe at your feet. ~Franz Kafka

Ideas Factory

There are only FIVE basic notes but their combinations and permutations produce music scores so varied that it is impossible to hear all of them.

There are only FIVE primary colours (blue, yellow, red, white and black) but their mixes and matches produce so many visuals that it is impossible to view all of them.

There are only FIVE basic flavours (sour, acrid, salt, sweet, and bitter) but their blends and mixtures produce so many tastes that it is impossible to savour all of them.

ENJIN

Apahal!

Lain pula ketika menulis.

Kadangkala, kita terpaksa!

Sinopsis Surd

"Dah tua baru nak pegang gitar. Berangan!"
"Aku nak mati glamor superfisyel!"
